I ran the smoker yesterday and it drove me a bit crazier to not have some cold beer near .....

I thought a smoker had to be fueled partially by beer. I didn't know there was another way. Heck beer was how I learned to use a smoker. The old timers on the river would get too drunk to finish cooking and I having received instructions beforehand. So beer and smoking / grilling go together
