Reading the July issue of Crappie Now there were a couple of articles on using green lights. I currently have a 2 ft Alumiglo that I bought probably over 5 years ago. I've only been night fishing once this year, but the circle of light didn't seem as bright or as big. I was only using my green light and not a white halogen submersible like in previous years.
I spent all winter redoing an 1860 mod V boat to fish from this year vs a 16' V bass tracker for the last 8 years. I'm thinking that white color of the 16' Bass tracker used to reflect some of the light out over a larger circle making it easier to see the slip bobber farther from the boat vs the dark green paint on the Mod V.
I decided to get another green light, thinking one at the front and one at the rear rather than just the one at the middle of the boat. Yesterday doing some searching I couldn't remember what brand I had. One of the articles in Crappie Now mentioned Hydro Glo lights, so I checked out their website. It appears they recently switched models of light and the older style is on clearance. I like clearance priced items so I'm going with a couple of the 12" lights.
If anyone else is interested check out the outlet link on their web site. I am in no way affiliated with the company, I have not even used the product yet so I can't give a review. Just seems like a good deal to me.
12" is 50% off
24" is 38% off
48" is 36% off
Turned out the 12" is 50% off not the number I had. They are honoring the website price for my order, but I expect they will be changing the website.

when we fire them BRIGHT GREEN LIGHTS up at the dock the crappie flat out LEAVE the area on the livescope , bream and sandbass and bait show up and the crappie go non existent for the most part , seen it happen several times .

I don't like hearing that. Bought me a green light for night fishing this year. Figured I would try it. Looked for brightest in my budget, figured brighter is better or so they advertised....
often times what we see is a good ways away from the light there are crappie , but it is a good ways off , like 25 feet or so away from the actual light .
they operate in the far off fringe area and not really near the light ,if you can still see illumination in the water ,there are no crappie in that area from what we see on the livescope and what comes up on the jigs as well .
