I was not as much talking about speed as I was talking range. The Stratos I have has a 150hp 2 stroke and a 30 gallon tank. It is a 65mph boat. A range of about 25 mile to dead empty. The 17.5 tracker aluminum with a 60hp 4stroke and a 13 gsllon tank. Will get real close to 60 miles on a tank of fuel. It is a 35 mph boat. I am happy with the range and the fuel savings. Over twice as far on less than half the fuel. The motor technology is there. There is not the range in the battery. I have now doubt an electric boat could produce incredible speeds. The amount of torgue that can be produced with the right prop would make one snappy drag boat

[QUOTE=Ketchn;4150502]so if I hit the water toooo much in my all new bad boy electric boat we will have yet another nuclear winter in Texas because Ketchn and his buds go ketchn in them new electric boats way to often ?
Just when I thunk it was tough enough to find reasons to ketch fish here comes the new rolling blackout regulations on the new electric boats and the no fish days that are needed to keep the heat and ac on ?....

The United States Navy is using the old tech to power those huge carriers and subs. Steam has been powering things around for a long time yet those massive ships and subs using steam turbines to power. The only thing that has changed is the what they use to heat the water. I am sure the turbine efficiency has gotten better. Yet it's still steam powered. Back to the future my have had it right. I may one day have a Mr. Fussion on my outboard

When they develop the personal sized nuclear reactor to produce the electricity all will be fine.

Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

It takes a huge amount of energy to keep a decent size boat on plane, way more then the automobiles. To have the range and power with today's technology with even the best batteries the weight of the batteries would be prohibitive.

Back off the throttle and you fall off of plane quickly. Very little coasting in a boat

Newer 2 stroke might be the answer. Ford is trying one out in the f150. It is the opposing cylinder design. 50% fuel mile increase with current model. Freight trucks trying it out too. Much cheaper to build than 4 stroke and not near the moving parts.
