But, I take your point. And I don't think I'll be around to see the changeover, IF it ever occurs.
The Tesla is a very impressive vehicle. I have watched some of the electric outboard motors. They are impressive as well. Most are running lithium batteries which helps with the power to weight ratio. I can see the point may be reached for lake and river fishing. Off shore fishing would pose an even bigger challenge.

Had a little aluminum lake rigged up with a battery and a trolling motor. Worked great in those no gas engine golf course lakes. It was great for its purpose. A good head wind would slow it down to a crawl

No doubt a ways off. That said, new chemistry is always being worked on. I fly electric RC and lithium was the game changer to make it feasible. You can’t believe some of the stuff flying with it. The new generation will be even lighter and more powerful.

if anglers and recreational boaters in numbers had the money and mindset to go all "green" there would be FAST electric boats all over the place in numbers that would defy the imagination OVERNIGHT !
technology moves as fast as the flow of dollars it needs to feed it , make no mistake they for sure could have fast electric boats available quickly if the market demanded it

I dunno, in this case, not sure about that. I don't think it's the motors so much. Or demand. It's all about the battery. Technology can move fast but it can move only so fast as creativity and innovation provides, coupled to the price. Even if they can produce a battery with good numbers, the main number is price. Innovation allows price to come down. One day, we might wake up to a dramatic announcement regarding a new finding and acceptance can happen pretty rapidly. As for the battery electric vehicle, there is much chatter that acceptance will happen far, far sooner than most think. And that it will happen because we won't have any choice due to it being so cheap compared to ICE. That's the general idea bouncing around. Who knows, time will tell!

I will say this. Wall Street and the powers that be are throwing all their money at renewables, not the oil biz. This is happening on a huge scale. Globally. If, like most things, it's 'follow the money,' then the money says renewables are where we are headed. Right or wrong, we live in interesting times. Things change fast these days!

it is likely the battery at this point and the cost to produce it , there is likely technology already in place that could accomplish the task at hand that don't fit the consumer's wallet .
not sure on it ,but I suspect it to be so , look at watch batteries and the minute size , and some of the rechargeable tiny things they put in cameras ,bet it is closer than one thinks on the horizon .
the offset might even be something in the motor weights and the fact the electric 200 horse weighs diddly and the weight savings gets passed on to the battery ?

it's all about the market and the folks buying not the illogical fools who are trying to force ridiculous change on us because of a few eco whackjobs who they are listening to. IF there was a great battery that could work all the time, we would use it for all transportation but we are many years from that. All the proposals are pipe dreams just like the insane leftist lunatics running california that cause all those rolling blackouts because they stubborn and shut down many very effecient environmentally friendly NG electric plants. same lunatics are in DC now for a short time but will be ousted soon and reality will set in once again.

IF there was a workable dependable affordable battery would have no problem switching over from ICE. UNTIL that day we will use what works effeciently. here's the other rub. IF all folks switched to electric cars now the grid couldn't support the load to charge them continually. hilarious they are but without any common sense or understanding of how things actually work.

so if I hit the water toooo much in my all new bad boy electric boat we will have yet another nuclear winter in Texas because Ketchn and his buds go ketchn in them new electric boats way to often ?
Just when I thunk it was tough enough to find reasons to ketch fish here comes the new rolling blackout regulations on the new electric boats and the no fish days that are needed to keep the heat and ac on ?....
