    Default Vintage Road Runner

Went to a small swap meet this morning and a gentleman had this for $1. I love roadrunners but have never seen one packaged like this. Any idea what era it's from?

    Default Vintage Road Runner

    Funny story about Road Runners.

I was on the GA Top 6 Team in 1980 at the BASS Federation World Championship atGrand Lake,OK. As is normal for such an event, there are dinners and banquets most every night. I was standing in the very back of the room with a couple of my GA teammates. Ray Scott was conducting an auction of sponsor items. A guy from another state walked up to us asking directions. Keep in mind, I was not part of the auction and wasn’t paying a bit of attention to it.
Many who know me know I talk with my hands as much as my mouth. I was pointing here and there giving directions. What I didn’t realize was every time I would move my hand, Ray ran me up on the bid!
All of a sudden a lady walks up to me with an armload of items and a bid card. A card full of Road Runner maribou jigs was one of the items. I had no idea what they were. I wasn’t a crappie fisherman! I was a bass fisherman!! Since the auction was for a benefit of some kind, I reluctantly paid much too much for the items.

That was my first experience withRoad Runners!

They work great in clear water creeks with few snags.

And while you’re rooting around the yard sales for things like this, keep your eyes open for some Doll Fly jigs. Way out of production and made with polar bear hair. When he died the permission he had to use the hair died with him. I’ve had a few and they work great also.
