Default FIX Powedrive use foot pedal and ipilot

Didnt know where to put this, hopefully a mod can move it to its correct place.

Was tired of being stuck with the ipilot which makes fishing docks a little difficult.. so i did some searching and found a solution. Well two of them, one from here which involved a board change and allowed you to use both at once, but then i throught why cant it just be a switch?? It cost me $4 for a DPDT switch and about 15 min of time to carefully hook it up. Now i can just plug in the foot pedal and flip the switch upwards, then if i want ipilot for trolling i can plug that in and flip the switch down.

I included the wiring, it really does only take a few minutes. I did extend each wire a little bit to make for easier working.

That is interesting. What problems were you having shooting docks using the remote? I found the remote freed me up and allowed me to move around in the boat to take the shots I want. Which when I shoot docks I take the front seat and the pedestal off the front deck. So I can move around freely.

Having to take my hand off the reel to adjust the boat, missed at least 50 fish last year because of that. I dont use spot lock because it can turn and shoot a boil of water under the dock, and our fish are way too pressured for that.

I don't use spotlock around docks either with the rare occasion when the wind is pushing hard enough to keep the boat pushed away from the dock. I hang the remote off my belt on the left side. Reach down and correct the boat when needed. If it is really windy it is hard to shoot the jig into a brisk wind anyway. It is time to find a more sheltered marina. A bluetooth version of the pedal would be awesome as well.

Same thing I do, those fish know when to bite.. the second I take my hand off the reel and grab the remote to "bump" the boat forward.

I wouldnt give up ipilot for anything, but for those special situations this is going to help me. Plus its $4 so why not have the option?

I still keep the pedal in the boat. I have not ran into anyone shooting docks on the lake I fish. They are not as pressured. My old home lake they were so pressured you did better to anchor the boat front and back. The trolling motor would turn them off.

Thats the thing, with power drive you would have to cut wires and splice them together on the water to use the foot pedal without this switch.

Our member here....CanePole. Several years back he designed a circuit to hook up to a power drive and you could run either one anytime...no manual switching to do. Use the foot pedal one minute and the remote the next. I don't think he makes these anymore but you could check with him and see....if not he would probably give you the parts list and wiring schematic diagram for it.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Do you have the Powerdrive V2 that came with I-pilot installed or did you convert it to I-pilot? I want to do this with my Powerdrive v2 I-pilot I just purchased late last summer. I find myself missing the pedal a lot while bass fishing but the spot lock is nice for vertical jigging. Was gonna sell and get a terrova but if this works would be a sweet fix. Thanks!
