    Default Inflatable life jacket recommendations?

Father's day is coming up and Dad is retired. I want to get him a set of inflatable life jackets to make his fishing trips a little more comfortable. I have 2 of the Onxy inflatables that do a great job. Just checking to see if there are better options. I prefer automatic with a manual pull cord

Bass Pro/Cabelas had the AM 24 on sale last month. I picked one up and now wish I had got 2. They were $79.

I use the Mustang Elite. Hydrostatic inflation.....manual pull cord if needed. Can wear it in the rain and it will not go off...must be submerged in I think it is 4 inches of water before it will go off. Pricey but good.

I just bought 3 of the Onyx A/M for less than $100 each from Sportsman’s Guide. With my club membership they were just over $90 each with free shipping.
I rarely think of Sportsman’s Guide for fishing and marine gear but over the years have got some great deals on it from them.

I would not trust my dad to one of those. I've hit the water with both. They ain't what they cracked up to be. They are very nice in the boat. It's like falling in the water and then being attacked by a boa constrictor.

I have watched some videos. It is a fsirly violent inflation. I was looking for something cooler and breathable in the summer heat and humidity

I've got 3 Onyx 24 A/M, I have them in a three year rotation for rearming,I change the Co2 cartrage and the pill. When it's time to rearm I ether dunk it in the bath tub or one of my kids jumps in the lake to auto inflate...No failures yet they've always worked. I also manually inflate them every spring with a air mattress blower and leave them for couple of days to see if they leak down, the oldest one is a 2012.

Sounds like you have come up with a nice testing and integrity inspection. Sometimes you might not get a second chance. Nice

I went with the Mustang HIT for the wife and I. They are more money than the Onyx but our lives are worth it to me. Anchor express was the best price I could find. Less than $200 for either the HIT or Elite model. $12 shipping.
