You can get by with minimal tackle if you ignore three words: “just in case”.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I've had too many times when they'd crush one color of crankbait for hours, then when clouds moved in or the sun got higher in the sky, the bite turned off...until you hit the next magic color combination. Then the bite was wide open again until something changed.

I usually carry about 200 crankbaits that cover 3 different maximum depths. I don't get enough spare time to fish that I want to waste it by not having the the right size & color lures. Lures are cheap, my free time is valuable.

A bunch. I have colors I've never tried. I need to remedy that.

I usually carry about 200 crankbaits
I couldn't fit that many on my 10' row boat! Plus, I avoid multiple treble hooks if possible which excludes using crankbait use most of the time.
My thing about carrying more lures is the inevitable loss due to underwater snags, pickerel teeth or large fish (bass) break-offs.

15 colors of crappie magnet , 18 colors of baby shads, 12 colors of southern pro , 12 colors of Jokers , 10 colors of Sliders and 5 colors of Brush pile jigs . A box of jigs sizes 1/64 1/32, 1/16 and 1/8 all in black ,orange chartreuse, pink and red . This is what is open in boxes, in two tackle bags . There is a small duffle bag with packs of unopened baits . I could narrow it down to 8 very easy . I used to carry a lot more but gave the kids at church at least half this much this past spring . I do not drink, smoke or chase wild women . jigs are my addiction . ps I forgot the hair jigs , I keep crappie logic in business also .

I’m just messing with you. That one beautiful jig box is all we usually see in videos.
