Better for bluegill than crappie.
Mister Twister makes these nymphs in a few colors that are 1 1/4”....nice small profile, they look great! I’ve crappie fished for years but I can honestly say I’ve never used any kind of nymph/bug style bait. Are these baits pretty effective for crappie? Do they work year around? Thanks guys!

They look pretty darn good. I would definitely give them a shot. On my creek it could be gills or crappies, but I don’t care. I’m sure a smallie will sneak in there as well. It’s all good. Give ‘Em a try and please let u# know how they work out.

I have some of those baits and they are much better for bluegills than crappie. The Berkley Power nymph is what you want for crappie. They are deadly.
I would prefer they were larger - say 2.5"- and I'd cut off the four decorative front spikes. This way they could be rigged on 1/16 oz - 1/32 oz jigs with #6 hook. Unless ice fishing and even then, I prefer larger soft plastics. Good luck catching fish with them (and getting the #8 hook out of it's mouth). You might try using a float and 4# test leader under it.
As far a lure size, whatever works for large crappie usually catches pretty much everything else that swims in a lake regardless of size.
