Sounds like my luck.
When I take the big ice chest and some help. Usually nothing bites. If I go alone and forget ice or have the little chest I load the boat.
So ya never know

Ok and i did for get to add as one member said, the cooler loaded with ice could hardly move around in the boat, now i don't feel too bad, and it was the first day out with the new Merc 9.9, it is a slouch as compared to my 25 Yamaha it had on it.

hi Bob
well the motor is not broken in yet only has 20 minutes on it, but the 9.9 merc is on there for a reason a few places i fish have a 10hp limit, i have a feeling when i crack it open it will not go over 8mph, still have to follow breakin procedures, i might not even get it broken in this year.

Don't know if mercury is the same, but I upgraded my 9.9 Suzuki with a different ECU (Electric Control Unit). Everything else is the same on 9.9s and 20hp motors. Mine cost $400 and my speed went from 12 to 19+ mph at WOT. Best $400 I ever spent and it's still a 9.9 as far as anyone knows. May be worth a try if Merc is the same set up.
