After I tie rope to anchor I attach the tag end to rope with a zip tie, never lose anything. I'm good with knots but why chance it plus the rope can't unravel.

With SI displayed on your HELIX ...:
*Press Menu one time to open the SI Xpress Menu ...
*Cursor down to “Chart Speed” and set this to match the GPS speed you intend to use (slower boat speed=Chart speed may give more detail) ...
*Then Cursor up or down to “SI Enhance” ...
*Cursor right to open the SI Enhance overlay Menu ...
*Cursor down to “Contour Mode” ...
*Right cursor to activate Contour Mode ... (this removes the dark water column and displays a better representation of the bottom detail) ...
*Adjust “Sensitivity” in the SI Enhance overlay Menu up and down to brighten/darken the image ...
*Pass over the intended target in a straight line from different directions ...
*Try different pallete colors ...
*Try different SI frequencies by pressing the check Mark button (adjusting Sensitivity with each frequency trial) ...

You can also drop another anchor at the same depth marked with some sort of bouy, and then pass by using si so you'll know what it's gonna look like.

The knot I recently found and like a lot is called an anchor bend. I know a bunch of knots and like this one better than a bowline. Attaching the tail with a zip tie is smart business also. Look the knot up on YouTube.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I also use the zip tie and fasten the tag end after tying it to anchor. I’ve also seen electrical tape used. Anything to keep it from coming untied. As far as finding the lost anchor either try the harbor freight magnet or just get another anchor.
Dumb question coming!!
“Did you happen to mark the spot(waypoint) on your graph?
If only 4-5 foot of water, just dive for it like you said.
I just tie several overhand knots, put on a couple zip ties, and then back it up with black electrical tape.

About 3 years ago one of the lakes i fish which is shallow to start with, was even lower.
One area especially, you needed to be on plane to make it through.
No problem for me however since i knew where all the stumps were.
Except one.
I hit that one going full bore with the 90 horse Yamaha and i dont know why the transome didnt tear out because i hit that hard.
The motor changed sounds and when i looked back to it the cover was missing and nowhere in sight.
Water was less than 2’ deep, and i never found that cover.
$300 for a used one with faded paint and letters.
And you just dont go in the water looking for things here in Florida.
Best just chalk that anchor up and move on.
