the braid in my opinion is good for a sore shoulder when they bite from the transfer of energy directly to your torso
its also good for bending hooks and pulling up brush piles along the way as well
and lets not leave out the part where it will flat out cut you like a knife
oh and then there is the wear and tear on your favorite rod guides
and it for sure positive can snap a nice rod tip off in the wind
and then there is that part where it sails in the wind AND water as well and wont go where you want it to
lets not forget the understated highly dangerous nature of any that stays behind in the outdoors
6 lb mono will snap if it has ANY wear spots
6lb mono will snap if the knot is not just right
6 lb mono will stretch like a rubber band on a hook set
6 lb mono typically has a spool memory that will drive you nuts
6 lb mono has a short life expectancy when used frequently
now mind you these are just some of the fine points in the never ending banter about what line and when and where and to be sure i use both for various reasons
in the end i prefer mono though as it "feels" right to me and i dont typically spend time "watching" fish bite and have to feel the bites and or have to have that just so so presentation to get bit that braid wont get done for me .
but when the situation is such that i might think i need to pull up something thats heavy and or i just want to get jerked out of my socks i use braid .
p.s. AND getting jerked out of your socks is not the same as being a jerk in socks , just saying
