    Default Early Morning Me Time

Had some free time this afternoon after an MRI on my knee...
I remember an old timer telling me how they used to tie up opossum hair jigs for crappie, so I thought I'd give it a whirl...These are what I came up with...Name: 20210427_205513.jpg

Once the thread was tied off, I sealed it with UV glue being carefull not to get any in the hair.
Dave, the package said Chartreuse. Seeings how crappie around here hits that color more than any other, I thought it a good choice.
If you do see a opossum that color, I sure hope you got your lead lined britches on, cause he's been some where there's a lot of radiation, lol...

Possums are tough little devils. Had one come into my house one night. He shoved the dryer vent hose out of the wall and came right on in. My BB gun did not intimidate him, only made him hiss. Then I cleaned him off the window sill with the broom. That got his attention, but there I was naked, and this thing coming at me. Well I sounded like a little girl a few times, but I got him out. He came back to see me again, and he noticed that I had hung my surf fishing rigs off the rafters of the porch. Some still had shrimp and clam and such. Well I never heard a sound, but the next morning he was hanging spread eagle from the roof, horribly impaled in all four legs. He just kind of looked at me when I walked out to leave for work. Had to put him down. I mention because the last thing I ever wanted to do would be to play with his hair. See I grew up in farm country and have seen cows and horses that have laid around rotting, then suddenly began moving, and watched possums come crawling out of their but holes drenched in slimy stinky goo. Like I said, they are tough.

So a little radiation might do one some good. Nice job on the jigs.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Those were interesting stories, and experiences I never had. I don’t think I realized how tough they are. All that said, the ties are really nice and should work!

Well, I didn't say I killed and cleaned and tanned their hide tied said hide to my jig...But have heard of folks on hard times making meals out of them back in the day...Not that I have. When one is starving, even red worms is a delicacy...just saying...
And Thank you everyone for the kind words on the jig
