Had my best fishing during the spawn at night with no full moon, I believe the lake I was on had so much pressure on the fish they felt more comfortable moving shallow and feeding when it got dark
Over the 50 or so years chasing crappie we have had a reasonable amount of success catching crappie on a full moon phase of the spawning season. Question I have has anyone had success during the spawn off the full moon phase. Can't say that we have tried it any other time other than during a full moon.

it is all over the map , one year it is as good as it gets
the next year it is as slow as it gets
one month yes and one month no
go when you can
NEVER depend on the moon phase to dictate if you go in the dark during the spawn
my take on it

I fished last night and did real good in southern Illinois the males were real shallow and starting to get colored up buddy caught a 2lb 4 oz black
I’ve never tried it at night.
I don’t doubt I could catch a few but where I live they spawn on Cypress tree roots.
I would spend all night tangled up in the tree limbs.
It’s bad enough during the day.
The pattern I’ve noticed is just after every
Measurable rain the lake rises a little and I get a new wave of fish that move in shallow (2-4 ft )
