    Default Cane pole fishing

Whats yalls take on "bamboo" cane pole fishing for crappie are they a good set up to use? Because i know that if your pole is 12ft your fishing line will be 12ft unless you add a couple of feet to make it longer but not get tangled on everything.

Many good crappie meals were and are caught with cane poles. The sensitivity and ease of transport make the telescoping poles the choice of many fisherman. I have both and according to the situation I will use either. I typically will only let my line extend 6” to10” beyond the length of the pole, too long and it can make landing fish a problem in certain situations. Good luck.

Cane poles were all we used 50 years ago...... Dip a minnow around tree tops and we caught plenty of fish.

There has been millions of fish caught on cane poles.

Never had the pleasure of cane pole fishing, but it is simplicity in itself!

I thought about making a couple just for the fun of it for jigging and brush or stumps

    This ^^^^

The only reason to use cane is for nostalgia. There's nothing wrong with nostalgia, but I prefer telescopic fiberglass and graphite. I catch a lot of fish each year on them.

I haven't used a cane pole since I was a kid, or a telescoping fiberglass or graphite pole since my 20's ... though I do have a couple of the BPS Uncle Buck's Deluxe telescoping rods that I use to Push jigs with (& have used to Push cranks w/2oz weights).

I do, however, seem to remember a member saying he used cane poles/bobbers to Spider Rig with ...

Will work great, but no drag when a monster hammers it.
