Well, I've only been a member since last August. I'd have a lot more money in the bank if not for this forum, lol. I've added Livescope to my boat plus I've out done myself buying new rods, reels, and JDM tackle, certainly not a bad thing though. I have also learned a LOT about Crappie fishing since joining the forum but unfortunately my catch'n skills ain't nuttin like "Ketchn's" ! <sigh>

I met (after some stalking) CountryboyNC through Crappie.com. Not only has he taught me a lot about fishing, but he's become one of my best friends. I'm thankful for that.

Well over 12,000 posts and many many years ago I was introduced to the very best fishing website I have ever found. There are so many role models on this website especially the men of God who always have a word of encouragement or prayers for you in times of crisis or tribulation. I love the fact that this is family friendly and a teaching website. I learned how to tie jigs and make soft plastic baits because of the helpful members here. Most of all in addition to becoming a better fisherman, I believe I have become a better man in the process. I have learned to share my talents and skills with others who wanted to learn about making baits like I did. This forum is one that should be a priority for every parent and teacher to expose their children to without fear. I pray special blessings on Slab, "G", Special K, Buckeye Crappie, Snake River, Skiptomylu and so many other individuals who are the heart and soul on this forum. My life is forever changed for the better because of all of you and I thank you. Bless you. You have made it fun. I am shipahoy 41 and I approve of your efforts to keep this a family friendly website.

    Mike

I’ve only been around here for 6 months, but I joined for one reason - I wanted to catch crappie really bad! The people on here like Ketchn are amazing and super helpful. I’d never caught a crappie on purpose before and these guys put me on fish by giving me knowledge to find them! Great forum and slab sauce rocks!

Well, Let's see. Where to start. I found Crappie.Com doing a web search on crappie fishing in December 2017. I ,knew nothing about catching crappie, but was told their were plenty in a small state ran fishing lake a few miles from my sisters house where I was staying, helping her with my brother-in-law who had Alzheimer's. After looking around the site a bit, I thought it was an outstanding place to learn about catching crappie.
So I did the online form to join and was granted membership the next morning. Since then it has been a learning experience from some of the nicest folks I have had the pleasure of knowing, though I have never actually met them face to face. Folks here are the greatest. Through the many threads on the forum I learned which poles to use for the different methods of catching crappie. From dock shooting, single pole jigging, and the difference between pushing a jig, pulling a jig and even side trolling. I have learned to pour my own soft plastics, pour my own jig heads, tie my own hand ties. And the color choices...Man are their color choices. If you can dream up a color combination, it can be poured, or tied, and will most probably catch crappie, at sometime during the year. It just all depends on the color of the water, the clarity of the water. I have also where to start looking for crappie, whether you have any electronics', in a boat or bank fishing. And you don't have to worry about forgetting the info either, as all the threads, that's where the info is, they are called threads, are archived on the site.
I Have learned about electronic's for finding fish and how to use them. If their is a subject on fishing, fishing equipment, your boat, trailer, your car or about any other subject,(well almost anyway) your sure to find it right here on Crappie.com.
Each state, that have crappie to catch has a forum for that state as well, besides the main forums. So if you plan on going on vacation, or taking a trip to do some fishing in another state, you can find info on where to go. By paying attention and looking through the archives you can determine which lakes produce the better fish for the time of year you plan on going, as well what is the best bait to use. Then each state has a get together at least once a year, some a couple times a year, where members get together for the week-end and camp out, fish and enjoy a great big family type get together. That's where most folks get to meet for the first time after reading and conversing on the site. You get to put a face to the name so to speak.
I recently had the opportunity to meet Ed Moes, aka, Slab, owner of crappie.com, this past year at the Crappie Expo in Branson, Mo. When I heard it was going to be in Branson, and that "G" wasn't going to be able to make it to help Slab in the booth, I told him I was going to be their and would help. I had planned on being their all three days, but life got in the way and I did get their Saturday to help. Slab is the greatest. Down to earth, friendly, and full of crappie fishing info. And it was my pleasure to meet him as well as everyone else that came by and said hi, and talked with us. Their is so much more, but this is getting a little long in the tooth, so I'll end here for now. Thank you Slab, for the best, Forum Site on the internet, bar none. It is the most family friendly site I have ever seen, bar none. "G", and the other moderators keeps it that way. Thanks to everyone. Eric, aka Jamesdean.

Put simply, crappie.com has re-kindled my life-long love of the simple act of fishing, and over the last few years, fishing has provided a refuge and re-charging station away from most of the pressures of life's responsibilities.
Yes, I was talking to myself; sometimes even I have to ask for expert advice.

I used to think I knew everything worth knowing about crappie fishing. After reading the successes of you people here I soon realized just how wrong I was. Also, I have never met any of you face to face but sure feel like I've made a lot of new friends.
