    I don’t know on that one - strange indeed. I wonder what it reminds them of? Perhaps in the past sautéed with Slab Garlic Sauce?

    when they are guarding nests ANY jig will do and yes even bare golden hook when ran out of live bait on one of few times I used that.

    Jig tipped with bee moths here in Indiana. Different than a meal worm.

    I'll second the crickets! When we lived in Baton Rouge I was in the bayou 2-3 days a week, I miss it, and I picked up crickets at the bait shop 3x more often than shiners.

    They bite about anything presented right . Caught them on Catalpa Worms . Here is one on a bare unpainted jighead .

    Couple of summers ago during a mayfly hatch i watched a crappie take one off the surface in 30' of water. Pretty neat.

    farm pond big yellow grasshopper festival in late summer is very cool to watch .
