    question then is, did he keep it or release? as that fish must be OLD doubt it would last much longer or would it? as they make replica's mostly and don't use skin like they used to. I just can't kill the bigger fish 14 inches or bigger.

    I have no clue as to California state record fish requirements but in TN if you think you have a state record, and want to put in for the record that fish is highly likely going to die during, or even before they can get the genetic testing done.

    Very nice fish, but I've heard of bigger caught and seen longer caught. At a certain lake in Cali, this guy caught at least a 20in. It was huge and its tail fin was atleast 7 or 8 inches by itself. Too bad he kept it. California is the best crappie fishery in the US imo. 14 to 15 is expected where I live.
