Displacement of water is a key factor to a jigs presentation, line shy or not in the particular situation where if slower sink rates trigger strikes, larger diameter line for a given jig weight helps regulate the sink rate. I am very guilty of dropping to 6# Mr Crappie if I catch myself thinking about line visibility, as all my focus is on using the Force to "Feel" it's time to set the hook during the "Winter" bite.
