    Default Trolling motor question

Anyone running a motor guide iX5, if so how do you like it? I’ve ran across What I think is a deal on one... still under warranty been used 7 trips. Think I can get it for 1000 bucks. I have used motor guide in the past but it was a cable steer not with spot locks and all that stuff. Any reason to stay away from it?

Just be sure your ready to go with Lowrance electronics. Or you'll be selling the motor soon.

I haven't talked to anyone that had anything bad to saw about the XI's.

I had one and hated it. Hard to deploy and stow. On rough water it was more difficult and dangerous. Some have added some kind of handle to make it a little easier.

Spot lock worked well. I sold it for half price.

I run Garmin graphs, I wasn’t planning on linking to TM, why would I be selling soon not having Lowrance?

love mine have it on 18ft pontoon, it was a pain to stow/deploy but put a handle on it and pretty easy now. Spot lock on these works awesome, they are quiet also.

Do you have it linked to a Lowrance unit? Any issues, or things you don’t like about it? Thanks for the info!

I have one, but I do not use. It is a backup. Had it on my boat for a spring, it did fine, but did not work well on my Aluma Craft boat. They are fine.

I have one also. Stow and deploy is a bit cumbersome but in my opinion the spot lock feature is way better than minn kota. Also from my own experience it is way quieter and smoother than minn kota. I love mine. I run garmin electronics so I wasn't worried about linking anything.

Appreciate the info, I got a buddy with a power drive MK, it’s kind of a pain to stow and deploy too. If that’s the only issue with it I’ll be happy.

I suppose I should have said to just make sure it fits into your overall electronics plan. The drive by wire models are more difficult to stick a transponder on (not impossible).

I'm thinking about making separate mount like the livescope guys do so I can keep my image from spinning anyway.
