I respectfully disagree, have had both. The four stroke was quieter and better on fuel. The two stroke has more power and a better power to weight ratio, given the fact it's lighter.

Yes the outboard is lighter, but every trip to the gas pump makes the wallet lighter too. Lol. I am older now and appreciate an engine that starts up immediately and runs so quiet. I love mine. Yes, if I were chasing ditch pickles in tournaments, I might feel differently. I'm in a deep vee and while 40mph isn't going to get me from New Orleans to the great lakes in 5 minutes, I, and my back, are okay with that.

If you can consistently get a 2 stroke to crank on a morning with temps in the teens, then more power to ya'. My 4 stroke fuel injected has never failed to crank immediately. My old 2 stroke- forget about it! No motor is any good if it takes forever to crank.

Was whitebass fishing the other day and a 2 stroke guy trolled by me three times ... after choking on his exhaust fumes I doubled down on my love for 4 stroke outboards 1

An ‘88 Mariner 150 that cranked without the issues you speak of. Once it was warm it started like my old Chevys did. Bump the starter and it was running.

If you find one that needs a new engine.... better check on availability as in there ain’t none. Dealer showed me several new boats without engines and said it would be May before he expects them in. So used boats are running almost even with the cost of a new boat and that was why i went with new. Good luck. You are going to have to hunt hard.
Maybe they will bite this one……

boat prices are really wrong these days .
you will likely look long and hard if you want to find a deal on one
and in a month the prices will soar even more out of sight when it warms up a bit

IMHO boat prices have gone CRAZY.
I could sell mine for way more than I paid, but then there’s nothing to buy, at a crazy price.
I do believe late summer there going to be some deals to be had.
At that point I’ll upgrade to a newer model.
