    Default Spider rig tip

I don't fish this way so maybe you guys already do it. A video I watched about it said the guy uses 8 poles. Each pole has a unique color of line. This makes it a lot easier to untangle when needing to. I does make sense to me.

Yeah, most "riggers" I know use 6-8 rods, but I don't know of any that use 6-8 different colors of lines. When I'm Pushing, I have been known to use 2-4 different colors of lines ... but that depends on which outfits I'm using at the time.

Yeah that makes perfect sense to use different color line. I have never done it and I push (8) 16' rods. Had some pretty bad messes before primarily with alligator gar. Just usually cut the lines and re-rig, found that to be much faster plus usually not much line lost. Plus, I change line on reels while in the boat when needed; one spool of the same color line to keep up with instead of eight. If I'm pulling cranks on different rods and reels I use a different color line just cause I know it is a heavier # line. Don't believe there is a right or wrong, just what makes a person comfortable and can catch fish.

Yeah if I tangle two rods I quickly cut one the first jig I can get my hands on and the line just pulls right through. Set the other pole in the holder and retye the cut jig. I have a hard enough time keeping up with one spool of line. I definitely can see how it would help.

I’ve got 20+ rigs pre tied and wrapped around a piece of pool noodle in case I have to do as catchngrease but every-time I go out there i go with the mindset of I’m invincible and not going to tangle or break off!

Sometimes the mind plays tricks on me.

LOL. One of my 1st trips out to teach myself how to spider rig, I had 4 poles out with minnow rigs. Picked up a few nice crappie then hit a school of stripers. Every rod had hi vis on it and one stripe tangled 3 of the 4. Those stripe know what their doing. I heard him laughing.
