Fished a private lake in Kentucky back in November and caught around 30, big slab black nose crappie all of them weighed 1lb. My first ever black nose and had to research what I was catching because of my lack of experience. These were the biggest crappie I'd ever caught! Its also when I decides to join crappie.com and start learning more about crappie fish, cleaning and cooking! Yep .. never heard of black nose crappie until a couple months ago.

Yep. They have that stripe when they hatch. Have caught several white black nose. They do cross breed occasionally. The irrigation reservoir I caught the in had a small population of whites. Probably the reason they crossed. Black nose fish do seem to have a more aggressive attitude.

the crossbreeding occurs when they go bananas in close proximity to each others beds is most likely the way they naturally hybridize
