    Default CHICKEN ?

2021 sure has gotten way better than 2020 right ?
The one thing that really chaps me about ALL of it , is the way it cuts into my going to ketch crappie .
I wish things would have gotten better than last year ,but as of late it just isn't happening.
A virus in our computers late last year at work made my lunch breaks all but disappear .
Corona made my trips with my buds go just about as far away as well all summer and spring and fall .
Then along comes 2021 and it was -2 in my part of Texas when I woke up yesterday ....
with wind chills way below ZERO ...
Stuck in our houses like cavemen and half the state keeps losing electricity .
Shortages on every consumable item you can think of .
So yesterday I put on my big boys pants and said THAT IS QUITE ENOUGH !
I went out with my hoodie and gear for cold weather ....
and then when I thunk I was going to ketch me a crappie fish or 2 ....
....right at the last second I got CHICKEN !
and thats my story and i am sticking to it ......
NO KABOOM is the word ....

NO KABOOM! is right. I think you made the right decision. That would have been one nasty day out there but of course would have been a pretty good story. If it makes you feel any better they are saying it is a once in a generation storm. Hang in there, and stay safe and especially warm!

I actually tried to ketch a fish last Friday !
25 degrees with a stiff north wind ....
    I lasted about maybe 8 or 9 minutes !
My rod tip froze up bad at about the 2 to 3 minute mark !
My reel started to freeze up about the 5 minute mark !
My hands said this really hurts shortly thereafter ....
and I really couldn't cast at about the 7 minute mark !
and IF I got bit I would have never noticed as it was REALLY REALLY tough to stay focused ....

about 10 years ago we hit a spot far away in this kind of weather .
the bite was way way past stupid good .
the 4 of us kept 4 limits of slabs .
the dock we were on got so frozen over with crappie slime we could barely walk on it .
but to this day i dont really want to do it again ....just saying

....and it reminds me of a day about 30 years ago when it stayed at 8 degrees with a below zero wind chill a day or so .
my well house on the next hill light bulb quit and my well house froze up, the real surprise was how well ice could break all them brass fittings and just how miserable it was trying to fix it in those temperatures .
