Too much movement in cold water is a problem for many crappie anglers. The guys I'm working with hear me preach presentation constantly. Keep your line straight down, your rod tip right on top of the water so you know it's not moving. This can be a big challenge in wind & add tide to the equation, a terrible problem. This time of year the "bite" is almost felt within, your sub-conscience knows it before you do, after my years "catching" my mind sets the hook before my attention registers the bite. You're so focused, to me, it's like "Using the Force" like in the Star Wars movies. It has taken time, and the ability to control your jig, keeping it still, while remaining totally focused on the interpretations of your senses inputs. I hope this makes some kind of sense to you.
