Are they still on the market? If not, you have your answer.

The two loudest sounds are a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and one that goes click when it is supposed to go bang.

Never bothered to purchase the Spike-it Color Selector, after having (& using) both Color-C-lector & Combo-C-lector for several years (back in their heyday) .... and not really seeing much, if any, improvement in my catch rate while using them.

I won't go as far as calling them a "gimmick", since they are based in science & research, but they do basically only tell you what colors are the most visible at the depth of the probe. And even that can change slightly (to quite a bit) in relation to weather/water/wind conditions ... all of which can allow light in or filter it out, which changes the visibility of colors to varying degrees.

The only thing I did learn from using those units was that contrasting colors on your baits was usually better than solid colored baits, in many instances.

Fun to try when they have lockjaw. I never used one so I could always use the excuse that I didn't know what color they were biting.
