Jakedads I will tell you a little about Slabanator Jigs and why I started making them. I have crappie fished since i was 5 years old with my grandpa and dad and we alway used minnows. About 8 years ago i started used jigs. After I learned how to use them noticed I could catch as many or more fish on jig as I did on minnows. The only problem was I could never find exactly the right colors I wanted and the jigs was not very durable and as much as I fish it was getting in my pocket a little more than I liked. So, 6 years ago I started making my own jigs. With the help of some of my crappie fishing buddies like "crappie pappy" field testing them telling me likes and dislikes and trying several different brands of pigment and plastics I think I have got a good combination of pigment and plastic to make the jigs brighter and more durable without getting to deep your pocket.. Thank everybody for all the kind words about Slabanator Jigs. Glad you all like and even more that you all catch fish on them...

chetc I am pretty sure they are about the same only thing is. The head color looks to be long than muddy water baits. But i don't make them in 2" but do make them in 1.75", 2.5" and 3". I know that a few people that started out using muddy water has switched over to the Hot Rods.

I finally got to get out and field test my slabonator jigs. I was trolling that day and I couldn't catch but two or three fish on each plastic piece before it would shred. But them dang fish was knocking the paint off the jigheads as well. Catch tested fish approved.

Now if you only made PopEye jigs.

catchNgrease you said you only could catch 2 or 3 fish on a jig before it shred. I have not experienced that before. What style of jig was you using?

I caught yellow perch this weekend using slabinator scented sticks on a forage minnow jig through the ice.
