My local minnow dealer hangs a strainer basket full of ice over his tank and lets it melt and drip into the tank over the course of the day.He says the drops of water gather more oxygen as they fall to the tank.Seems to work nice for him.I started doing this on a smaller scale during the summer to keep mine alive during fishing trips. Here in the south you'll lose a dozen an hour during the summer if they aren't on a pump. This way I dont have to bother with a pump in the minnow bucket.

Having a couple of wells, its easy for me to keep minnow cool. Just stick the hose in and let it run slowly. I like your idea about the box with styrofoam. I wonder how that spray cans of foam would work? While fishing, I do like Karl said. I just take extra bottles of frozen drinking water and throw one in the minnow bucket a couple times a day. Works for me.Originally Posted by DENNIS BOWERS

Bill---i Bet The Spray Cans Would Work And You Could Make Sure To Cover The Whole Barrel That Way!!you Could Still Wrap With Rolled Or Styrofoam If You Wanted----seems To Me The More Insulation The Colder The Water Would Stay??thats A Good Idea!!thanks& Good Fishin To Ya !!!!dennis :d
