Default Is it a waste of time?

This time of year, I normally pull crankbaits if I'm not single pole fishing over brush tops, but here lately I've wanted to slow troll jigs and minnows over the same areas that I normally pull crankbaits.. I'm just curious as to whether or not that is effective this time of year?

Give it a try and see....just never know. One year I was catching pulling cranks in Dec.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I always say to trust your "gut" or intuition whenever you are fishing. It never costs you anything but a little time to try... and you may find some improvement or great success.
Remember: Fish are constantly transitioning. One thing for sure... You'll never know unless you try. Good luck to you.

Good advice. On a good hunch I tried my fly rod with top water flies, and was able to fish shallow, rocky, skinny water with plenty of hits. That water is pretty much unfishable with jigs but the pans were there! Give your hunch a try!

Thanks for the responses guys, my biggest reason for wanting to slow troll jigs or minnows, is because I've noticed since I've gotten livescope, that the fish will scatter away from the boat when I'm pushing crankbaits. Which in my opinion causes me to miss out on fish. I'm guessing it's my trolling motor or boat that scares them. But I am wondering if I slowly ease into them with the jigs and minnows, will they scatter like they do when I'm running almost 2 mph pushing crankbaits. That's the main reason for wanting to try it. I'm planning on going in the morning, and will post my results, thanks again

this thing you noticed is why they are using really long rods and sneaking up on the really large fish to win the crappie tournaments these days .
the larger more wary fish will most assuredly run from any potential predator looking anything .
there are times they dont , but to be just as sure alot of the time they run like a rabbit at the first sign of danger
the clearer the water the worse the problem btw
in my opinion and for what it is worth ,this is why on calm days it is typically more difficult to get bit ,i think wave action messes with their vision capabilities and causes the light refractions to somewhat disable their ability to spot danger .
there is a method to my madness dont you know

    I'd try planner boards.
