I have no experience with Ky lake. My experience in other lakes is that the shallower fish will move deeper to the first significant drop off and stay there a few days.

I'm planning on fishing KY Lake this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday they're supposed to get the leftovers of the hurricane and predictions of 1-2" of rain. I'm wondering how that kind of rain might affect the fish? I'm familiar with the effects on bass (shallow fish will move to the banks, head toward coves that have big creeks flowing in, and of course staining the water). But I am just getting back into the crappie game so no real experience fishing for them after a lot of rain like this.
If it helps with feedback, my understanding is that the crappie have been a little scattered lately, but tending to brushpiles or stakebeds in 14-16' of water near drop-offs or other deeper water.
Thanks in advance for any insight on this!

plawren53202 thanked you for this post
This is true if a cold front brings higher pressure, but just a pop up rainstorm this t8me of year will actually make the fish go shallow. At least that’s been my experience. Especially if there’s not a significant pressure increase.

I was thinking in regards to the pressure change from the hurricane. Maybe I'm wrong. I can remember that I was wrong once back in 1977

Lol I know what you mean. One time I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

Come to think of it, you may be right. Once the hurricane passes we will probably have bluebird high pressure. Not good.

The moon and the wind and the water rise and the barometer along with the clouds ,the sun and the many other variables might have some play in where and how the fish act for sure .
I would plan on asking LOTS of questions at a major local bait shop "while I buy live bait" if I went there.
nothing beats local knowledge on unfamiliar lakes in my opinion .
thats my 27 cents worth
and no i never been there .

I don't know what effect a lot of rain has on crappie. But I can tell you it definitely keeps me off the water.

Any day I'm fishing is a good day, regardless of what I catch.
Here you go Ketchn, this was on June 24. Way too much rain.
