REI has been selling this type clothing for outdoorsman for years....but it's not cheap. I've used some of their bandanas to wear around my my neck to keep mosquitoes away.....works pretty good.

My son works for the gas company, as a regulator tech, so he works outside all the time. In the past, he has had ticks get on him, but has been lucky, that he has felt them, before they got attached to him. They are now buying clothes for their workers, to reduce the chance of them being bitten by ticks. My son said last night, that since wearing the pants, he hasn't had any ticks be on him. The pants can be washed 100 times, before the repellent quits working.
Why did I bring this up? Because it seems that every year, it seems that there are more ticks, than the year before. Permethrin Spray, is the repellent, that is being used in the pants he wears. Bank fishing people, and hunters, should think about using something to protect themselves.
insect shield is the name of the company. Tried to bring the link here, but it isn't cooperating. They sell the spray there, and also clothing from children thru adults, with the spray embedded, into the clothes. Linking what they say on site below.
Repel ticks and mosquitoes today with Insect Shield’s line of insect and bug repellent clothing. Insect Shield carries a diverse line of insect repellent clothing for men, women and children. I went fishing one afternoon in the 60's, got bit by four ticks. I found them when I took a shower at 9 pm. At 1 am I was in the ER where a young doctor told me I had been bitten by a black widow spider. Treated, I went home. At 7:30 am I was taken to the ER again, this time paralyzed from the neck down; I almost died and would have except for a neurosurgeon who listened to what I was able to say....four ticks bit me!!! I was in ICU for three days and the paralysis gradually subsided. Three people in Memphis that year got tick paralysis, and one of them died. Ticks are bad news.

Used Permethrin for years bow hunting in northern Wisconsin. Season started mid September and the bear ticks were terrible. Do not put on skin only on clothes and let it dry.

Stuff soundS very powerful. I guess the word is be very careful using it. I’ll also say something about it at my RC Flying club. From time to time we have to hit the woods/fields and climb trees to get back errant planes! LOL. Thanks for the tip.

Another disease ticks cause is called "Alpha Gal" this disease causes you to have an allergic reaction to mammal meat. Not noticed immediately but several hours after eating you become extremely sick. Ticks are not to be ignored. The dangers they present is quickly evolving, there are numerous studies being done. Check your local health departments to see if any studies in your area. They are always looking for samples to test.

For several years now I've treated my upland hunting clothes with diluted permetherin. I live in Michigan, spend all spring (worst tick season) in the woods with my dogs banding woodcock and all fall hunting grouse & woodcock. I've seen ticks so thick you can watch them crawling up a guys pants as he's walking.
I buy the 8 or 10oz Gordon's Permetherin from TSC. Put 1.5 gallons of water & the entire bottle of permetherin in a bucket, add clothes that you want treated. I do all 9f my outer garments. Wring them out while wearing rubber gloves. Air dry. One treatment lasts the entire spring. I retreat them before fall season as well.
I haven't had a tick on me since starting this. Every hunting companion that hasn't taken my advice has had multiple ticks on them each time we hunt.

Wonder if that stuff works on chiggers, they tore my legs up last week!

I don’t know but if you find something that does let me know. I was in misery the last time I had to deal with them about 12 years back. So much so it has kept me out of a lot places I would have normally gone to. I have access to a private 30 acre lake full of 12 inch shell cracker. They quit mowing around the lake and grass and weeds are about thigh high. I won’t even think about going in that because of the chiggers. I hate em.
