Looking for a new rod. Just learned that how I've been fishing has a fancy name like float and fly. Just thought i was bobber fishing.
All my crappie fishing is from a 16ft bass tracker set up with livescope this year. Summer time fishing is at night with a slip bobber and minnows. When i can i like to use a fixed bobber with hand tide jigs and a wax worm rather than just watching a bobber sit there. I was fishing all 7 ft rods Shakespeare micro graphite rods in light action. This year i bought a 7 and 9 ft Sam Heaton super sensitive. Haven't used the 7 ft much but have used the 9 ft with the fixed bobber a lot the last month. I really like the 9 ft for being able to take up extra line on the hook set. Mostly fish a reservoir 10 minutes from my house. Crappie aren't that big there or I'm not catching big ones. Longest this year was just under 12 inches.
Been looking at the BnM float and fly in either 9 or 10 ft.
I'm open to all suggestions and feedback you can provide.
