I do not mind bad days if the weather is decent, but when your out there wind blowing 30 MPH, cloudy, cold, raining, it`s bad fishing and it is your only week long fishing trip now that just plain sucks.

I only started fishing for crappie a couple of years ago, but what I've found is these fish are a lot like quail. Some days you find them everywhere, then others they seem to have vanished. Also, they can stay just ahead of you out of reach. I have the good fortune to have 6 water supply reservoirs of medium size near me. When I can't find them on one lake, I just switch to another for awhile.

Sometimes it just is that way so just try again and again until they get hungry or in the mood! Oh and you may want to try night fishing?

and just like that the switch flips and the world is right again. I went out last night and the line wasn't in the water for more than 20 seconds before it's going down and I have my first crappie of the night. Pretty good fishing overall, just stayed with minnows as I was catching crappie, bass, northern, and even walley in the same spot.

Northern always amaze me crappie fishing...it seems if i do a slow real and just guide it to me they don't fight too much until they see the net. I can normally get the under 5 lbs one in the boat without breaking the line. But of course there is the occasional just massive tug then snap of the line when fishing with the only thought being...well...that must have been big.

The bad days make the good days better in the end!
