    Default I TEST EQUIPMENT

Just a word to those that want or need to know about fishing gear .
Now mind you I don't typically use high end stuff as it just isn't my program. Most of the many different types of tackle used are within the budget of the average guy or gal .
Case in point , i went to the Walmart yesterday to get a small fillet knife for what i knew would take place after work at my friends "fishing" dock. He didn't have a good fillet knife the last time I had to clean a few fish there and that problem is now cured .
As I wandered down the aisle i saw a really pretty rod laying right in the flat middle of the aisle . I know I know typical Walmart shoppers right ? But emitting lightly from that area was a wee little voice saying
"help me please , I've fallen and cant get up "
So I bent down and said "here little fella let me help you out of this predicament "
I held it a few moments to long and it started asking lots of questions ...
"you that guy I heard tell about " ? " Are you that there make me famous fella " ?
I was like um , well that's a strange question but to be sure it could happen I suppose .
So I played with it a bit and knew my bud needed a new rod and said you know what little guy
" I think it might be your day "
So off we went with our 2 dollar extended warranty for 2 years no hassle replacement program and back to work and I laid 2 rods on the table in the conference room .
Both are identical 6 foot one pc. rods but one is a an Abu in fiberglass and the other this here new carbon . Not much difference in the 2 other than weight ,both have a 6 to 12 lb line suggestion and medium action .
My bud chose my older fiberglass and so it began .
Off to water the little fella went and this is no joke ...
first pitch, fish on and so it went until I hit 25 and moved on to what i was actually there for in the first place . The rod is pretty sensitive and has reasonable back bone and good action . Sets the hook well and feels real nice in my hand .
I will be testing it often in the days to come so stay tuned ....
The rod did by the way whisper really sweetly on the way back to the truck last night
"thanks ketchn , i really needed that "
KABOOM is for sure the word my friends
p.s. under 20 bucks was the price tag on this rod

I might go on to mention that tackle don't often talk and when they do its barely audibly discernable in the very very low decibel ranges and always keep in mind this about that , crazy people ain't always uneducated or dumb or grammar wiz individuals , they is just crazy ....

I'm surprised it could speak English, I figured it would speak Chinese instead.

It's an affliction my friend, fueled from the desire to hunt fish and provide. Man's instinct is only furthered by his tools, and yes these tools do speak to us in a way that only the gubers on Crappie.com can understand. I resemble this remark and brother trust me the price point on said gear does not dampen or amplify that voice, it only affects the weight of the wallet. Carry on kind sir!

Great little story, KABOOM for sure. Your predicament hounds me every time I go to any store that carries outdoor equipment. Now mind you my quandary is fueled by my bride asking me if I want to go look at the fishing stuff.

Fathers Day came early this year and of course she added some stuff to my arsenal.

    Thanks for sharing!

I have heard the voices too, but mine come from rods rated for 1-4lb line.
