Bravest of the brave.

My Dad went in Omaha Beach on D-Day and served under Patton across Europe. He never talked about the horrors of it, only the funny stories. If you have seen the Longest Day movie, and remember the paratrooper that got hung on the church steeple, Dad helped get him down when they moved into that town.
They were the Greatest Generation and we should all be thankful we don't speak German today.
the amount of human life lost on that beach in a short period of time is something that hurts me to think about .
the military went well beyond what I consider as bravery . knowing what was in store and still running full steam ashore is something that defies reality .
I tip my hat to any and all involved in the D day operation and the rest of our mighty armed forces as well .
Dad was a bomber pilot in north Africa, Sicily, and Italy. Called up for Korea too.
