I will have to give that a try
What is you guys technique? I think everyone try superglue, or Richard Gene where he remove bait keeper/collar and wrap with dental floss. I did the same thing until now.
I saw this type hook in Asia, and again with small company imported crappie stuffs from Asia. Here is my version. I remove collar and then insert smallest shrink tube on to the hook. After heat the tube it is shrinked enough to stay on the hook and easy to insert plastic. I cannot confirm how long would it last or better than superglue but it a lot easier to change just plastic not the whole rig.
For comparison the first two is with the tube 20 or so caught and without 10 or so and I have to re adjust plastic because once it crooked the bite slow down. I hope some of you that caught plenty of number try it and confirm if this method work.
I will have to give that a try

What can't shrink wrap do?!? Interesting idea. Gonna give it a try. Thanks for sharing.

A dab of super glue on the shank works okay for me.
That’s a good idea to try though.

Yes I have a whole box of pre-rig various jig head weight and color. It is a little bit cumbersome sometimes when you wanna change lure at night or if you want some weight and lure that not in your pre-rig. This way I can switch plastic easier and plastic still good for next use. I’m sure it would last longer than regular method but not sure if compare to superglue especially with bluegill or bass those always destroy plastic just one fish.
I don’t buy plastic by 100 like others do so a little bit would help. I can’t confirm if my method would save lure and time that why I post here for those of you crappie expert to try.
Here is my pre-rig all got super glue, I don’t carry a lot of gears with me, just one setup and a few various plastics and weights is good for my type of fishing.
No one on Crappie.com has tried this which I've post many times before. I've been using wire on my jigs for over 9 years and wouldn't cast a jig without it. Here's the process (if anyone's interested):
Line up a piece as shown:
Wind around the post once tightly:
Snip one side close to the post:
Bend the remaining wire into an L shape:
Use the wire grub gripper on any soft plastic knowing it does zero damage to the lure (like glue does).
Won't leave home without them:
I use the same wire to hold trailers on my bass jig:
Note: for 1/64 and 1/32 oz jigs you might not need the wire L, but I attach it anyway.
