There are good deals to be had on new leftover model boats and motors. Especially at the smaller independent dealers who need to liquidate their inventory. I wasted months of my time looking for a specific type used boat to use in places where the one i had and still have wasent what i needed. Welded is one thing, but the gauge/thickness of the aluminum is something else to consider. Every boat is a compromise in one area or another, which is why i have two.
I spent $5400 for a new 1442 Alweld boat with a new 20 horse 4 stroke electric start Merc, a new E Z load trailer, and a new 50# thrust MinnKota Powerdrive, plus the Florida sales tax. I could have easily spent that much and more for a decent used one that wasent exactly what i was looking for. So deals on the better quality boats are out there if your willing to spend some time researching. As it turned out for me at least that took much less than the time spent looking for used ones. Richard Gene by the way uses an Alweld brand boat, which are built in Arkansas, as are the War Eagles.

We are thinking alike skeetbum. I’d be more than happy with a 17.5-18 aluminum with something that will push it 35-40. Truth be known, I was happy with the tracker 175 i had several years ago, besides fighting the wind. I’ve come to accept that a trolling motor with spotlock is a must. I never learned to read the electronics, so they were mostly used as hazard markers and depth finders.

Several of the boats have very similar layouts, so I need to decide whether I want a front live well or not. I’d likely use it as an ice chest if equipped.

Wishlist: side console, less than 5 years old, ~40 MPH, GPS trolling motor, Garmin livescope?, fair priced : )

I have a tracker 175 with a 60 4 stroke and it will only run 32 so if you go the tracker route find one with a 75

War eagles are a full 1/8th inch aluminum (no guarantees on this). Built like tanks by all accounts i read.
