July and August are our best times for pulling cranks!
Over the years I have noticed how the bite gets slower day by day in July every summer and by the Dog Days of Summer (1st part of August) fish won’t bite much of anything at all. Plastic baits don’t work very well in late July and especially August. But fish will bite fresh live baits. I have heard some wild reasons why this is happens every summer and would appreciate your opinions.
Why does the bite always slow down in July every summer and seems to stop in August?
By the beginning of October the bite is improving and fish will start biting plastic baits again.
Funny deal.

Summer crappie catching=Early bite on deeper brush with jigs, pulling crankbaits daytime, and most comfortable when it's 90+ degrees, the night bite under lights! Stay after them, they gotta eat!
Waters hot, fish in shade or in deeper more oxygen rich cooler water, but not below the thermocline.

Yup find a thermocline lake and power troll or pull cranks. Best time of the year to fill the freezer. They've already spawned.
