    Default Used Boat Pricing

    Hi All,

I've located a few Lowe Stinger 175s and a couple of Tracker 175s. 2013-2017 year ranges. All are in great looking shape with 30-100 hrs of use. All have the 60 hp 4-stroke. None have electronics I'm excited about so I would be upgrading that anyways. I lean toward the Lowe simply due to no wood. But, I'd be really happy with either rig really.

My big question is the price. NADA avg. retail seems to be approx 10-14k for both rigs depending on the year and model.

Anybody care to share what these boats have been purchased for used? Any recent examples?

I want to make sure I don't make a mistake and over-pay in case I want to sell and upgrade down the road.

    Thanks!

I was looking for the same boats last month. I looked pretty hard and found that a 2013 Stinger or Tracker was going for 9,000 - 9,500. I did not pull the trigger due to the virus shut down and our uncertain market. I was looking for anything under 10k and these were the best deals I was able to find.

Thanks; that is affirming. That is exactly what I'm finding and trying to stay under 10k. I've made offers on 6 different boats so far from 9-$10,500. Most sellers haven't responded at all (not uncommon w Craigslist) and a couple have declined. It will come together eventually I guess!

Most of what I'm finding is 5 year old Tracker and similar boats for about 14k. Anything less, the boats seem to have a lot of wear. Now I'm trying to determine if I want to spend an extra 3-4k and buy a 17' fiberglass, like a Nitro Z-7. I'm not sure if I'll be satisfied with something running mid 30s. I think the Z-6 is in my range, but the rod storage is less than ideal and there just aren't many on the market.

Several of these 5 year old boats are 16k. What I'm thinking is a lot of people finance 100% for 10+ years and just simply owe too much for what I'd value it. I just couldn't buy a 3-4 year old boat for 2-3K under new price.

Yep, a lot of people are truing to get out from under their loan. Their will be a lot more deals coming up. Job loss will see the price coming down.

I'm nobody when it comes to boat prices, but I have come to the conclusion that prices for used are in the eye of the beholder. If you find 5 boats exactly the same you're more then likely to find 5 different prices on them. A lot depends on time of year and location of boat. JMO

You are right about that wannabe. For the boats I'm looking at, I've found my best deals with bass fishermen who want to upgrade and their boss-lady said thou shall sell this boat first.

Thanks guys for the replies. I do think quite a few of the sellers are upside down on a boat loan and I'm not offering enough for them to fulfill their loan. I keep thinking with all the job loss right now that somebody will be ready to liquidate a boat for a reasonable price. But, I've looked hard and made offers on multiple boats and haven't found that seller yet. Luckily, I can fish in what I have and be patient.

Best of luck. I am actually in the market to upgrade my boat. I have an Xpress 1546. But I am trying to go to 17' so 3 can fish. What kills me is most of the dealerships in East TN certainly are not trying to get me in their door.

I always find the right boat at the right price at the wrong time. When I’m ready it’s always a wasteland. And my opinion on the ones you missed, everything for a reason. There’s one with your name on it, somewhere. Hope you find it when you’re ready.
