    Default Cattails

Have any of you fished cattails/bulrush for crappie? I have not but going to give it a shot this year. I suppose verticle jigging with very weedless hooks. They gotta hold crappie.

very popular in these parts . some vertical jig them with long rods out of kayaks ,some out of boats ,some in waders and some off the bank . and don't be fooled by how small a gap between cat tails can hold a real big crappie . sometimes little spots in between them have monster crappie sitting in them .
run way heavy line as it is a must ….
and get ready for a fight , they don't like being jerked out of them, not even one little bit either

Read the depth finder, set a cork accordingly, hang onto your socks. Has worked for me.

Up here in the Nort country Cattails usually grow in very shallow mucky bottom, now if you find reeds during the spawn can be a killer as they grow in deeper and more sandy firm not hard bottoms.
