Rod Holder Question

I’ve been longlining and I’m not happy with the rod holders on the back of my boat. I put the reel behind the front forks so a hang-up doesn’t pull the rod out. My issue is the rods are hard to remove when you have a fish on. The opening is on the left side which is ok but it seems the gap between the front “U” and the back part that the handle rests against doesn’t have enough gap. I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense to you guys but I don’t know how to describe it any better. I’ve tried to mark up a photo to help show what I’m talking about. My question is, what do you guys use for holders in this situation?
