Terrova Question

I recently purchased a used Terrova with iPilot. I’ve noticed on the newer models there is a black flat thing on the shaft. It is not the depth adjustment knob. This piece looks to be 4” or so and flat on both sides. Mine does not have that I was wondering what is it?
