Default A few crappie on Roadrunner.

I always start with Roadrunner as search bait. Once I find them I’ll determine if the bite on deep or shallow. Today is another day that roadrunner work. Caught a few crappie, 2 bass and mystery big fish that pull drag hard for 10-15 second until I lost it after set the drag a little more. The bad part is I broke my favorite rod. It is Shimano Crucial Dropshot special Gen1 about 8-10 years old but better than a lot of modern rods these days.

Love roadrunners. Great search tool. The flash of that blade makes them react. They got no choice but to bite!

I like trolling with them too. Some days they are deadly. Last year about this time I pulled into a creek channel on Tellico, determined to find crappie. I was met by two old timers (older than me) who had a boat load of crappie, all caught on RR's. They just moved slowing down the center of the creek. One cast to the left, and one to the right. They were Road Runner vacuum cleaners!!!

so that lake is SE of SB. have you ever fished Lake Castaic up by Santa Clarita? Our son lives in valencia by Six Flags and after being there a day or so bored out my mind and wondering if there are crappie there as we are close by. No one in his circle fishes or does anything outdoors.

Never fish up north. I’ve heard a lot of good and big crappie in Isabella Lake. Castaic lake used to be a good bass and striper bass.
