If I had any idea of a future purchase of a Livescope system ... I'd go with the Garmin.
If you had to choose between these three.
Lowrance hook 2 9 triple shot
Hummingbird helix 7 mega di
Garmin echomap plus 93sv
What would be your choice?

Depends on what you are wanting from the unit. My choice would be the HB 7, but like Pappy said if live scope is in your future Garmin. Best Buy if you like Lowrance and can deal with the length of transducer, Academy online has the triple shot really cheap.

I like the Helix 7 DI Gen 3.
Two buddies bought Garmin’s today at Bass Pro. 93sv and 73sv. Both got great deals but they were last years model. Guess it doesn’t matter because they were happy.
Bass Pro has a habit as do other stores of unloading old stock at a discount.

I had a Hook 2, sold it. No point in buying 'bird unless you get the mega SI. So, Garmin all the way.

This, I went with a 93sv on my stick steer boat and am VERY happy with it. I chose it because Garmin had better mapping for this area, and it was the largest screen side imaging locator without spending megabucks.
I also have a Stryker 4 setup on my kayak. I can’t imagine a better unit for $100.
I am considering a livescope setup, but am going to wait and see what comes out at icast this summer.
The best fisherman I know is a striper guide on Lake Texoma. I’ve been fishing with him for 25+ years and he never failed to put fish in the boat, never. And he uses an old Si-Tex locator that I’m sure qualifies as an antique, but it does everything he needs.

No way i would spend any meaningful money on a sonar WITHOUT side imaging. so Garmin would be my vote.
I have a helix-7 mega DI on my trolling motor and like it however I know I am not going live scope route . Any thought of doing so, go Garmin .
