Now that spicy red pepper and garlic fish in that skillet done made me want to drive to Texas and get some. That looks tasty!
I often hear and see things around the internet and from fellow anglers that I have no clue on if what or when . many say egg color will tell how close the spawn is or isn't .
the fish I managed the other day and kept 8 of were odd in that some had real yellow eggs and some not so much and one of the boy fish seemed about running half empty.
now mind you I know its impossible they would be spawning this early from what I have been told repeatedly by in the know people , but none the less here are some photos to start the debate once again .
What is your opinion on them if you don't mind .
and yes I know I killed several multiple thousands of potential baby crappie
but I so wanted to cast iron a few with some spicy red pepper and garlic

With the title, thought you were going to talk about coloring Easter eggs, lol.
Yellow eggs - not quite ready
Gold eggs - ready & waiting
Milt sac -
I cleaned a bunch of Crappies 3 days ago and those that had eggs the eggs were orange in color. I know the Crappie won't start spawning here until end of April or first part of May when the water warms up. I have caught Crappie and Walleye in the fall that are still carrying eggs. There is only two things that I am certain I will never understand ,That is Fish and Women. In the mean time I'm sitting on 5 gallon pail in the middle of a frozen lake in Northern Minnesota reading all your posts and looking at pictures wishing my life away.

Stick a fork in them before frying and they don’t pop as much when frying.

That plate looks great Ketch but you need some of those eggs in there too. Yes and like cevans said you need to cut open the eggs sack or punch holes in them. By the way, they are great.
