So does that make the SOLAS jacket less safe than a USCG approved?? (Or is it a political issue?) It is hard for me to believe there would be a $100/150 difference in vest with equal safety features!!!
A SOLAS is designed to turn you over on your back if you are unconscious. I am not familiar with SOLAS inflatables but it is supposed do the same.

I changed mine to manual inflate after it self inflated in one of my compartments. Little sponge got wet and caused that I guess.

Mustang HIT PFD's will not inflate unless it's submerged in 4 inches of water. You can store them in a locker...in high humidity......fish in the pouring rain...it will not go off unless you fall in the water...or pull the cord. I am sure there are other manufacturers who use the hydrostatic technology also. So did you have a Mustang HIT PFD go off in a locker?

    My Bad!!
Mine was a Bass Pro brand and don’t think it was hydrostatic but whatever they call theirs.
I’m pretty sure the hydrostatic type works on pressure change instead of the type I converted that deployed based on some type of spurge getting saturated and deploying.

I am pretty sure the rearming kits for the hydrostatic models are pretty pricey and the reason I didn’t get one.

Unintended water/rain inflation is why I was only interested the Mustang ...

I couldn’t find another brand with that same HIT technology ...
