But you have a "hinge" in your line that can be as much as a 90 degree angle, depending on the length of your cast. That "hinge" is slack and bad for hook sets. It also creates friction.

Agree, I guess, I sacrifice better hook sets for something more streamline to cast...Lol
When it comes to casting distance, I will put a waggler against any float on the market.
I know they cast good, I had one...it's the way the float just hangs off your line, half attached, flapping and spinning around crazy that I didn't like.
