    Default CrappieNOW Crappie Survey

I'm working on an article for CrappieNOW magazine regarding angler's feelings and attitudes on the crappie size limits and creel limits in their home state. We have posted a survey asking for YOUR opinions on YOUR home state.

We hope you'll participate here: https://crappienow.com/magazine/crappienow-feedback/ It is simple and should only take one minute, literally.

We know there are some variables we may not address in the survey... such as individual lakes in your state that might have differing limits from the "Statewide Limit." Feel free to mention those in the Comments, if you wish.

Thanks very much for your participation. Meanwhile, while you're there you can check out some great articles in the March Issue.

Do you believe your state should place a creel limit on crappie SMALLER than your existing size limit?

That's one of the questions. I'm not sure I understand it. If my state had a size limit, are you asking if there should be a separate limit for fish smaller than the current size limit? So essentially no size limit, just a number limit above and below a particular size? Just askin

I guess another way to interpret that question is to ask if the current size limit should be smaller?

Oops. You discovered an error... conflicting use of "creel" versus "size." I'll get that fixed.

Of course it should read, "Do you believe your state should place a creel limit on crappie SMALLER than your existing creel limit?"

Just filled out the survey. Here in MA, panfish of any species are far from the focus of our wildlife management people. Focus is mainly on trout, with panfish at the bottom of the list of species in the state. Very unfortunate.

Just submitted my survey. I think Kentucky focuses more on the central and western parts of the state than the eastern. Our eastern lakes have significantly more small crappie than large ones. When I travel to other parts of the state, it’s amazing how the difference in average size of fish changes. I would love to see a size limit placed on my local lakes! But even if they did place one, like every other limit, I doubt it would be enforced.

I personally think it should be done on a lake by lake basis, hard as that would be to administer or enforce.

There’s an 8 page debate under the Indiana forum if you guys have an hour to burn. Several good points both ways on the size limit issue with crappie

I definitely agree with this but can you imagine how much money that would cost to man an operation like that. Fishing licenses would be a thousand dollars to offset it lol
