If you every need to just get the smell out of something use fresh ground coffee. We use it in refer trailer to kill the smell in trailer that have been washed but still smell.

Mine just gets rinsed every once in a while. Bakeing soda would probally be the safest way, but; I use 1:10 bleach/water mix to disinfect/clean canteens, water bottles and job site drinking coolers. I then rinse a couple times and its clean and ready to go when needed. Dont know if it would harm a fish.

    Anyone clean there's out differently?

I wouldn't worry about it. The chlorine in bleach will disipate on its own just from the air and warm temp. Then if you flush it out a couple times what ever minute bit that left is dilluted from the water and will quickly be disipated on its own. Another thing that does real good for removing muddy water residue is toilet bowl cleaner. I would make sure you thoroughly flush everything out before filling it up with fish. Works great on the outside of the boat and those white water marks on the engine.

You mean to tell me that you're supposed to clean them??!!!

For crying out loud, I thought that smell was a fish attractant.
