I use unpainted jigheads when casting, but painted ones when Pushing ... neither have "eyes". Not a big believer that eyes on a jig makes a big difference, overall, but concede that it could under some circumstances.

I pour and paint my own. Some I paint eyes on and a few use stick ones. I think like a lot of other lures in fishing it’s more for consumer than for the fish. Like pappy eluded to, unpainted probably catch as many fish as painted and with eyes. To me 75% of things we buy are confidence boosters which in my opinion goes a long way in how successful your are.

The paint on the jig head gives you a chance to add some more color either the same as the body or contrasting. As for the eyes I use some red 3D eyes on some of my jig heads. I believe red helps draw a strike the eyes give me a little red flash on the jog head.

What they said! I tie on what look's good to me. If the fish like them then it's a win win. Like Cray says, it's whatever gives you confidence. I have a inkling crappie could careless, it's all about what they fancy at the time. I am partial to painted heads with eyes, I even try some holographic at times.

I love pretty jigs with eyes! I love painted jigs with no eyes. Probably caught the most on the gray ghost which is unpainted though.....lol.

I only use unpainted. It's one less thing to think about. I think the weight of the head makes the most difference. My buddy only uses red jig heads. We catch em about the same. Whatever works for ya.

Seems like good test to do on youtube...eyes... Vs... no eyes, maybe someone will pick up on it.

I do not think it matters to the fish. Crappie jigs usually don't get banged up on structure like my bass jigs. So the painted crappie jigs look nice and I have several but the cheapest way for either crappie or bass jigs, IMO, is fingernail polish. If I want a colored jig head I can add the cheap fingernail polish and can get solid or glitter colors.

However a simple unpainted jig works for me. I'm not advocating unpainted over painted or vice versa. I feel like it's important to have confidence in whatever choice a person makes.
